Here are a few of our Architectural Shingle Installations

Our Shingle Installation Process

Before we begin, we ensure all work areas are tarped off. The tear-off process involves removing everything down to the bare wood decking. Then we thoroughly inspect your roof for any rotted or storm-damaged decking, requiring additional carpentry or flashing repairs.

If we discover any unforeseen damage beyond the original scope of work, we will notify you immediately and give you the cost for the additional repairs. As part of the process, any necessary decking repairs will be addressed, with two sheets of 4x8 decking included in the initial price for such repairs.

Next, we install new drip edge along the perimeter of the roof. Following that, we dry in the entire roof using synthetic underlayment as an additional moisture barrier beneath the shingles. We replace up to 3 pipe boot flashings, which is also included in your price. After that, we proceed to install starter strip and shingles. When necessary, we install or replace ridge ventilation and then install hip and ridge cap.

Lastly, we clean up, running a magnet to ensure all nails are picked up, then remove and dispose all job debris from the jobsite.

We only install Complete Shingle Roof Systems

complete shingle system.jpg

A shingle manufacturer's complete roofing system is the installation of matching roof components designed to work together to provide homeowners with a reliable, durable, and long-lasting roofing solution.

We only install complete roofing systems for following reasons:

  • Shingle companies provide their most robust warranties when their matching products are installed.

  • Installing matching components also serves as a safeguard in the event of a warranty claim.

When all roofing components come from the same company, any potential failure cannot be attributed to a mismatched component from another manufacturer.

New Horizon Roofing and Exteriors proudly install Tamko and GAF Brand Shingles

Tamko Titan XT Architectural Shingles

We're big fans of installing TAMKO Titan XT shingles, and here's why: first off, these shingles bring a good balance of durability, style, and performance in high-wind weather events.

They're built tough, standing up well against the elements with enhanced impact resistance.

On top of that, They have one of the highest wind ratings on the market (up to160 MPH), which is invaluable to protecting your home with our extreme weather conditions on the Mississippi gulf coast.

GAF Timberline HDZ Architectural Shingles

GAF Timberline HDZ shingles are a great  choice for homeowners. With one of the best warranties in the industry, GAF offer real value, balancing quality with price.

GAF Timberline HDZ Shingles offer a wide array of colors to give you many options to improve the curb appeal of your home.

Another thing that we like about GAF; the more matching components installed, the more they cover with their warranties.

Fortified Roof Program

An IBHS FORTIFIED Roof adheres to a carefully considered standard to create enhanced protection against natural disasters.

Here's how it tackles vulnerabilities:

Stronger Edges:
Wind damage often starts at the roof's weakest spot, under the edge of the roof. The wind lifts up from the bottom, which in a worst case scenario, could pull the whole roof off entirely. FORTIFIED insists on specific materials and installation methods, like a wider drip edge and a fully adhered starter strip. Together, these components create a strong system to protect this vulnerable area.

Sealed Roof Deck:
FORTIFIED requires roof decks are sealed with peel-and-stick membrane underlayment. If wind snatches off your shingles, this preventive measure stops water from seeping through gaps, preventing potential water damage inside your home.

Better Nails:
Standard installation requirements only call for using smooth nails. FORTIFIED requires ring-shank nails. Ring-shank nails are designed to grip more securely to the roof deck, which significantly boosts the roof's resistance to storm level wind, nearly doubling its strength.

Better Shingles:

Since your roof's first line of defense is the covering, FORTIFIED require an architectural shingle with a high wind rating and impact resistance.

Financial Benefits:

The FORTIFIED Roof Program can save you money on your home insurance premium. A Fortified certified inspector will inspect the roof throughout the roofing process to ensure that Fortified standards are followed to the T, and all specified building materials were installed. Once your roof is signed off on, take your FORTIFIED Certificate to your insurance agent to see what discounts you qualify for.
